Prevention & Education Program
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and diabetes are closely related, and both have reached epidemic proportions. CKD is a “silent” disease that often has no symptoms. As a result, thousands of people experience kidney failure every year without advance warning that their kidneys are at risk. The good news is that CKD’s progression can be slowed if it is detected early.
Bridge of Life (BOL)’s Prevention & Education Program addresses the compelling and urgent need to raise awareness about preventable diseases and to provide health education. BOL provides rapid CKD screenings in non-medical settings and gives individuals the tools and resources to take a proactive role in their own health.
This program is unique in that it provides real-time, lab-quality results within minutes and identifies individuals who have signs of decreased kidney function. In addition to providing participants with screening results on site, BOL offers a confidential education session based on individual risk factors, results and ways to promote good kidney health. Individuals are encouraged to see additional medical follow-up when appropriate.
